As well as making sure that you've got the pram, and the
Moses basket or cot, you'll want to make sure that you have everything else you
need for your new baby, well in advance.
Here's what you need to consider.
1. You'll want plenty of nappies, although you might want to
just buy one lot of nappies until your baby is born and you know how big he or
she is. You don't want to buy lots of newborn nappies only to discover your
baby is too big for them after the first few days.
2. You'll need plenty of cotton wool balls to clean up
whilst changing your baby's nappies. It's not recommended to use baby wipes for
the first few weeks, as babies skin is still new and fragile, and it can easily
be irritated and get sore.
3. Using organic baby skincare products will also mean that
your baby's skin is protected from the chemicals that appear in other skin
washes and soaps.
4. Babygrows
will be ideal for when your baby is sleeping, and for when he or she is going
through many changes of clothes during the day.
5. Vests are useful for wearing under outfits, and for
wearing at home when it's warm too. You won't want your baby to be too hot or
too cold, and so you can layer clothes and blankets to ensure that your baby is
comfortable.
6. You'll want to have baby clothes and outfits other than
vests and babygrows, perhaps for when you go out, or for when you have visitors
around. You're also more likely to receive outfits as newborn baby gifts, and
so your baby might have lots of nice clothes to wear.
7. Having a number of muslin
blankets will mean that you can always have one to hand, and don't need to
keep running up and downstairs in the middle of the night in order to keep your
baby warm. With lots of different types and sizes, you're bound to find some
that you like.
8. A dedicated towel for your baby will mean that you don't
pass on anything to your baby, and that they won't be overwhelmed and too warm
in a large towel.
9. Baby changing
bags come in a wide range of colours and sizes, so you'll have lots to
choose from. Your pram might already come with a nice changing bag, or you
might want to choose your own.
10. Breastpumps can make feeding your baby much easier, and
whether you're sore from feeding, or your partner wants to feed, or go out with
your baby, you'll be able to express milk much easier with a breastpump than by
hand.
Now you know what sort of things you'll need, have you got
everything you need for your newborn baby?
